How We Work

We work with our foreign partners in a number of different ways.

Brokerage & Representation – In either a brokerage or representation arrangement, we will usually have identified a local requirement and will proceed to identify a suitable foreign supplier, establishing terms in order to move forward. For upcoming solicitations, we will obtain all the bid documents, advise on key bid requirements, help to assemble the bid proposal, and may advise on pricing, commercial, and contractual issues. Sometimes a retainer fee is required, sometimes not. This depends on the timeline and risk associated with developing a particular market/sales opportunity.

Prequalification & Local Content – If prequalification of a company’s goods or services is required (i.e., with Petrobras), we can conduct this entire process for our partner. We charge a separate fee for this service and offer it exclusively to companies with which we have a business development arrangement. In addition, we can develop strategies for meeting local content requirements.

Lead Contractor – In some cases it is preferable that the bidder be a local company. In these and other situations, Argentera may bid a contract/project with a back-to-back agreement with the foreign supplier of goods or services. At times, the foreign enterprise may participate with us as a subcontractor or consortium partner.

Foreign Direct Investment – We also work with foreign investors in different ways. We may collaborate with private equity firms to place equity investment in Brazilian companies or projects in the energy sector, including power generation. In other cases, we may be retained to act as the local project development team for greenfield projects in the sector.
